Volunteer as a CASA
CASA is the only volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens to be appointed by the Court. In an overburdened social welfare system, abused and neglected children often slip through the cracks among hundreds of current cases. CASA volunteers change that. Volunteers typically handle just one case at a time - and commit to staying on that case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. While others may come and go, CASA volunteers provide that one constant that children need in order to thrive. Are you ready to stand up for a child who needs you?
Application Process and Timeline
Voices For Children CASA accepts inquiries about volunteering as a CASA throughout the year. Applications are accepted from October 1st until February 1st. Application packets consist of the application plus background questions, permissions for release of personal data for background checks and three personal references. VFC CASA requests a $40 fee to cover the cost for processing the background checks. This fee is waived in cases of financial hardship.
After your application is received, you will have a one hour interview with CASA program staff.
CASA Volunteer training occurs once a year during the months of February and March
Volunteer Orientations
Informational meetings are held throughout the year for those interested in applying to become a volunteer. Although attendance at an orientation is not required before applying, the meetings are a great opportunity to hear about what it's like to be a CASA from experienced CASA volunteers.
